It wasn't until I moved away from BYU campus that I got to know other parts of Provo a lot better. This water park is located in central Provo and these two slides are the main attraction for everyone over the height requirement of 48'. :)

I saved this particular Sunday Churches entry for Easter, because this is the most important building in the whole city to me, and Easter is one of the most important days of the year. This is the Provo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where members of the church go to worship and to make sacred covenants that will enable us to return to God. And what better day is there to make mention of this building, which is for so many people symbolic of the hope of eternal life, than on Easter, when we remember that Christ atoned for us to save us from sin and rose from the tomb to save us from the grave?

"He is not here, for He is risen." Happy Easter!

Concrete backyard

This is the small backyard of a house (not pictured) built next to a large commercial complex. What I loved about this house is that, to make up for having a big concrete wall behind them, the owners placed those lattices for plants to grow on. There's nothing growing on them at the moment, but I like to believe that at some point, they made this concrete block look a little more like home.

And what's especially funny is how fast the weather changes. On Saturday it was blissfully warm when I took this photo in my backyard. 24 hours later, I put on my galoshes and trudged out into the snow to take the second picture. And knowing how the weather goes, it'll probably all be gone by tomorrow.

The weather around here changes rapidly sometimes; sometimes it's sunny and clear when you leave your house in the morning, then by the time you come home it's snowing up a storm. If you don't plan for the crazy weather you could end up like this guy, walking home through a blizzard in flip-flops and shorts.

It's a little depressing, our weather today; the warm weather this morning had me in a cheery mood as I went to work, but by the time I left we were back to winter. It's like seeing someone bake a pan of brownies, only to find out you don't get to eat any. I keep telling myself it's good for the snowpack, but I don't really believe it.

Every year the "Holy War" tradition between Brigham Young University and the University of Utah takes place. This year, in overtime, BYU threw the winning touchdown pass which, as you will see, pleased more than one "true blue" fan.

Today is the day of big football game between Provo's Brigham Young University and their rivals, the University of Utah from nearby Salt Lake. That makes this possibly the most important day of the year in what has become an epic rivalry that fans call, only partly jokingly, the Holy War. In preparation for the big game, BYU wraps all of the statues on campus in plastic to keep them from being vandalized. Yeah, it's that kind of rivalry.

Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors and see all the people. This LDS church house has a lot of sentimental value for me; I attended church here for many years, I was baptized here, I crushed on boys in Sunday School class here. Those were the days, my friend.

The BYU alumni building was constructed a few years ago on the crest of the campus hill. Although I'm an alum, I've never actually been in, except for when I was picking up my cap and gown. The building's clock tower, however, was quite useful for letting me know how late I was to class.
